Lithuanian opera singer Rusne Tuslaite praised for her 'dramatically blossoming soprano uniquely combined with a comedic talent' (Donaukurier) is a current member of the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding residing at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, Germany. She is the Royal Academy of Music Alumna, the Royal Opera House Youth Council's Emerging Artist 2021 as well as a scholar of the Richard Wagner Verband in Munich taking her to the prestigious Bayreuth festival in 2026.
Rusne made her Lithuanian National Opera debut at the age of seventeen as a winner of the television song contest ‘Dainu dainele 2016.’. Her recent operatic engagements include the roles of Mariuccia in Rota's 'I due timidi' (Prinzregententheater), Juno in Arne's 'The Judgment of Paris' (BTAAE), Rosalinde in Strauss's 'Die Fledermaus' (St Paul's Opera), Fiordiligi (cover) in Mozart's 'Così fan tutte' (The Grange Festival), Lidochka in Shostakovich’s ‘Cheryomushki’ (Welsh National Opera), Countess Almaviva in Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro' and Chief hen as well as Woodpecker in Janáček’s ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’ (both with Hampstead Garden Opera). Rusne has previously worked at the Glyndebourne festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, the BBC Proms, the Clonter Opera Theatre, the Brunswick Vocal Arts, the Random Opera Company, with the Scherzo Ensemble as well as with the London City Orchestra covering 'Vier letzte lieder' by Strauss for soprano Nadine Benjamin MBE. She already performed in many prestigious venues such as the Wales Millennium Centre, the Grand Theatre Amiens, the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, the Usher Hall, the King George Hall and the Auditorium du Nouveau Siècle.
Rusne is also an experienced Oratorio singer. Her solo engagements include H. von Herzogenberg's 'Die Geburt Christi' with the HMTM Chamber Orchestra, F. Schubert's 'Lazarus' (Maria) with the Bergson Artists, B. Britten's 'War Requiem' with the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, J. Brahms' 'Ein Deutsches Requiem', Fauré's 'Requiem' and Franck's 'Les Sept Paroles du Christ en Croix' with the Malmesbury Singers, Saint-Saëns's 'Messe de Requiem' with the Athenaeum Singers and Handel's 'Dixit Dominus' with the RAM Bach Consort. Rusne has sung alongside many prestigious orchestras including the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the Orchestre National de Lille. She also had a pleasure of working with conductors such as Peter Rundel, Paul Daniel, Vasily Petrenko, Robin Ticciati, Sir Donald Runnicles, Maxim Emelyanychev, Jakub Hrůsa and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Her most recent competition success includes winning the Talent Summer Opera Festival's Soloist & Orchestra Concerto Competition 2024 in Brescia, Italy. She is also a recipient of Arthur Burcher Memorial Prize, the Toni V Fell Prize and was placed third at the Historical Women Composer Prize in the UK. In 2018 she was a semi-finalist of the Junior Kathleen Ferrier competition as a representative of the Royal Academy of Music.
Rusne actively performs in festivals and takes part in masterclasses in Lithuania, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Belgium and Poland. Some of the most well-known include the Ludwigsburg Festival, the Biennale Festival and the Richard Wagner Verband Masterclass in Munich, the Royal Łazienki Music Festival in Warsaw, the Talent Summer Opera Festival in Brescia, the London Singers' Collective Ltd Stanislavsky's Workshop programme, Triomphe de l'Art programme in Brussels, the International Chorus Inside Festival in Rome, the Welsh International Academy of Voice's Summer programme in Cardiff, the Mozarteum University Summer Academy in Salzburg, the St Denis Festival in Paris, as well as the British Youth Opera Summer festivals in London. Rusne has previously worked with many accomplished singers including Tanja Baumgartner, Chen Reiss, Anna Samuil, Nuccia Focile, Ann Murray, Michèle Crider, Dennis O’Neill, Della Jones, Jack Li Vigni and Anna Netrebko’s singing teacher Tamara Novicenko. She is currently studying with Greek soprano Alexia Voulgaridou and is being mentored by Canadian-Lithuanian soprano Lilian Sukis. Rusne is generously supported by the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding as well as the German Stage Association (Deutsche Bühnenverein).
